The Forged in Flames Damage Controlman Belt Buckle was created to honor that legacy. The centerpiece features a crossed fire axe and maul beneath storm clouds and streams of water, surrounded by roaring flames and two firefighters battling the blaze. At the center, the crossed tools symbolize the proud heritage of the Damage Controlman rating, while the inscription “Forged in Flames” reflects the resilience earned through every casualty response and every challenge overcome. The year 1948 commemorates the establishment of the Damage Controlman rating.
